Pastors Waymond & Camille Burton
Pastors Waymond and Camille Burton arrived in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1998 with a clear mandate from the Lord: “Take the water of life to Greenville.” Sent to establish a ministry faithful to that call, they launched Water of Life Christian Church with their first service on Sunday, October 4, 1998—just 15 people in attendance, mostly family and friends offering support. Since then, God has proven faithful as the ministry has grown and lives have been transformed.
Waymond L. Burton III is the founding pastor of Water of Life Christian Church. His ministry began in the late 1980s on the campus of East Carolina University, where he witnessed the emotional toll of unhealthy relationships. He is the author of What Is A Good Man?, a powerful book that walks through every reference in Scripture of a "good man," offering clarity and biblical insight in a culture full of confusion. His experiences in ministry ignited a passion in him to see men grow in maturity and women walk in wisdom and discretion when approaching relationships. Waymond is also the author of M.T.S.: Ministry Training School, a foundational manual designed to equip aspiring ministers with essential biblical knowledge, practical tools, and spiritual wisdom for launching into ministry with strength and purpose.
Camille Burton, also a Raleigh, North Carolina native, began her ministry while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she led a chapter of New Generation Campus Ministries. After graduation, her heart to serve led her to volunteer with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship of North Carolina under the leadership of then-North Carolina Overseer—and soon-to-be father-in-law—Bishop Waymond Burton, Jr. Working closely with Bishop Burton and Pastor Jackie provided both Camille and Waymond with invaluable mentorship and a grounded perspective on the realities of starting ministry from the ground up. Camille thrives in the background, joyfully making things work—whether at home, at church, or in her professional role—always with a heart of excellence and devotion.
Waymond and Camille have been married for 28 years and are the proud parents of three children: Josiah and his wife Zara, who reside in Atlanta, Georgia, and Jadyn, a student and pole vaulter at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Together, the Burtons continue to lead Water of Life with humility, purpose, and a deep passion to see lives transformed by the power of God’s Word and love.
